Auburn University, City of Gulf Shores break ground on educational complex

Auburn University and the City of Gulf Shores today broke ground on a complex that will serve as an educational outpost for the university and a resource for the Gulf Coast.

The 24,000-square-foot Auburn University Educational Complex will house four programs: the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Auburn University Aviation Center, the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development. Business alum’s Amazing Race: 36,000 miles and $1 million in 23 days

After Scott Flanary earned a spot as a competitor on the 29th season of the CBS adventure show "The Amazing Race," his friends and family members wanted to know if there was anything he wouldn't do in pursuit of the $1 million grand prize.

"Bungee jumping," he told them. "I am very afraid of heights. I was thinking to myself that it is literally the one thing I would never do on the `The Amazing Race.'" Read more about Flanary.

Veterans Resource Center supports student veterans, eases transition

It wasn't that long ago that Mike Patterson was an airman serving in Afghanistan. Life has definitely changed for the Boaz, Alabama, native now pursuing a degree in economics at Auburn University.

"If you had told me back then that I'd be spending my days going to class, studying and hanging out with other students at Auburn, I would've laughed and said you had the wrong guy," he said. "But that's what I'm doing now." Read more about the Veterans Resource Center
