Nominations open for Auburn University alumni entrepreneurship awards

Auburn University is accepting nominations for its alumni entrepreneurship awards that will be presented as part of the 2018 Auburn University Entrepreneurship Summit hosted by the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business.

The summit, which will be held April 5-6, features the following recognition opportunities for Auburn graduates from all academic disciplines:

  • Auburn University Entrepreneur Hall of Fame: Open to Auburn University alumni who graduated more than 10 years ago, the Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have demonstrated significant professional accomplishments in their business careers and persevered in the face of adversity.

  • Entrepreneur of the Year Award: Open to alumni who graduated more than 10 years ago, this award recognizes significant professional accomplishments by a business leader during the previous calendar year.

  • Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award: Open to alumni who graduated less than 10 years ago, this award recognizes individuals for their entrepreneurial spirit and achievements in starting or leading a business.

  • Top Tigers Awards: Presented in partnership with Business Alabama magazine and Warren Averett CPAs & Advisors, Top Tigers honors the fastest-growing companies founded, owned or led by Auburn University alumni in positions such as CEO, president, vice president, CFO, etc. Companies are ranked on the basis of revenue growth.

"Auburn University has a strong reputation for producing entrepreneurs and innovators," Harbert College of Business Dean and Wells Fargo Professor Bill Hardgrave said. "The university’s legacy extends from Main Street to Wall Street, from thriving small businesses and start-ups to the most valuable companies in the world. These awards enable us to recognize and celebrate the individuals and companies who are building on Auburn’s remarkable reputation in the business world."

The Hall of Fame gala dinner and Top Tigers Awards luncheon cap off a week of activities celebrating Auburn University’s role in developing business leaders and driving innovation. Other Entrepreneurship Summit events include the Junior Tiger Cage business pitch competition for high school students, the Tiger Cage business pitch competition for Auburn University students and the Launch Innovation Grants Program presentations by Auburn faculty. Auburn University student entrepreneurs will compete for up to $50,000 in funding in Tiger Cage, while faculty members participating in the LAUNCH finals will complete for shares of a $100,000 pool.

The run-up to the 2018 Auburn University Entrepreneurship Summit will also include the first Auburn Regional Alabama Launchpad in October. The Alabama Launchpad regional comes from a partnership between the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, the City of Auburn, Auburn University’s Harbert College of Business and the Auburn Research and Technology Foundation.
