The Market at Ag Heritage Park kicks off its 12th season Thursday, May 12, from 3-6 p.m., but shoppers should take note: The location has changed.

For 2016, the weekly, growers-only farmers market will be situated beside Ag Heritage Park's Edward L. Lowder Red Barn and Farm Implement Museum, 580-B S. Donahue Drive, on the Auburn University campus. The entrance will be on Donahue Drive near the South Donahue Drive and West Samford Avenue intersection. Large sail banners will mark the entrance.

The Market will be open every Thursday, 3-6 p.m., through Aug. 25 and will feature area growers offering a wide variety of fruits and vegetables that will change as the summer season progresses. Other local goods – such as baked goods, goat cheese, honey, ornamental plants and homemade jams and jellies – also will be available for purchase.

The Market's move to a new site within the park was prompted by the two major construction projects underway at the corner of South Donahue and Lem Morrison drives, directly across Lem Morrison from The Market's previous site, manager Laura Weeks said.

"For several years, a lot of our shoppers have parked along Lem Morrison, but with the construction of the nursing and pharmacy buildings, that off-street parking has basically been eliminated," Weeks said. "Those projects also are affecting traffic flow in that area.

"The new location will make The Market more convenient for and accessible to our vendors and to our customers," she said.

Established in 2004 and hosted by the Auburn University College of Agriculture, The Market at Ag Heritage Park gives area residents the opportunity to buy locally grown, fresh-from-the-farm produce and other local products and to connect with and support local farmers.

For more information about the upcoming Market season, go to www.agriculture.auburn.edu/the-market or contact Weeks at herrilm@auburn.edu or 334-740-2574.

The Market is a free event that is open to the public.
