Auburn University honors Faculty Award winners Tuesday night

Auburn University honored its 2016-2017 Faculty Awards recipients March 2 at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center, recognizing some of the institution’s most innovative teachers, researchers and scholars for their unique and distinguished contributions to the university’s mission.

Presented annually, the Faculty Awards honor individuals and groups of faculty for excellence in teaching, research and outreach. Following a competitive review process, recipients are chosen by selection committees comprised of faculty, staff, students and alumni. The honorees Tuesday night were named in 2016. [Read more]

Jay Jacobs named Athletics Director of the Year

Auburn Director of Athletics Jay Jacobs has been named a 2016-2017 NACDA Under Armour Athletics Director of the Year.

The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics award voted on by a select committee of athletic directors "highlights the efforts of athletics directors at all levels for their commitment and positive contributions to student-athletes, campuses and their surrounding communities," according to NACDA's news release. Professor using $1 million NSF CAREER Award to study physiological effects of stress

Does a small amount of stress change a person physiologically so he or she can handle large amounts of stress later in life?

Auburn University Assistant Professor Haruka Wada is using a recently awarded $1 million National Science Foundation CAREER Award to investigate stress responses in organisms and cells and how they link together. Scientists have long studied the responses separately, but the connection between the two is unknown. [Read more]

'Because How We Decide Matters: Making Decisions More Inclusive' discussion with Therese Huston set for March 29

The Biggio Center will be hosting Therese Huston of Seattle University March 29 from 12-1:30 p.m. at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center ballroom A.

Faculty and staff are invited to join Huston for a “world cafe style lunch” and an interactive discussion on inclusive decision making and communication. [Read more]

Auburn names Clardy assistant vice president for communications and marketing

Auburn University has named Mike Clardy assistant vice president for communications and marketing following a national search, announced today by Don Large, executive vice president. Clardy, who has been serving as interim assistant vice president since 2015, will begin the new position immediately. [Read more]

February Spirit of Excellence winners announced

Four Auburn University employees have been recognized as Spirit of Excellence recipients for the month of February.

They are, pictured above from left, Kimberly B. Ford for office administration excellence in the theatre/College of Liberal Arts; Christopher E. Cox for technical and paraprofessional excellence in information and instructional technology/College of Veterinary Medicine; Donna W. Tucker for administrative and professional excellence in Risk Management; and Shelia P. Hooks for service and maintenance excellence in the Student Center. [Read more]
