Jennifer Fincher
Communications Manager

Professional background:

For over 20 years, I’ve had the opportunity to be an amplifier for organizations that build communities: first for three chambers of commerce, then as a freelance communications designer for a wellness program and now for a special worldwide community – the Auburn Family.

For the first part of my career, I worked for growing nonprofits, so I wore many hats: designer, writer, event planner, photographer, social media manager, program director and marketing manager. I’m immeasurably grateful for the broad experience, and I’m now using that skill set to inform my role as a project manager.

I’m also Adobe certified in InDesign and a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organizational Management.

Role within OCM:

I’m a communications manager, specifically for Research and Undergraduate Admissions, so I help our talented team put all the pieces together to tell Auburn’s story. In addition to keeping us organized, I develop content for student recruitment publications and videos, copy edit the Auburn Research magazine and assist with advertising concepts and copy. We all know how special it is to be part of the Auburn Family, so my job (our team’s job!) is to find a way to capture that and share it.

Proudest professional accomplishment:

Limited resources can make working in the nonprofit world a challenge, but I’ve always been proud of how much the teams I’ve worked with have accomplished and the level of excellence we maintained despite those challenges. Small, but mighty.

Outside interests:

Nearly all my free time is spent with my husband, my pup and our friends outdoors. Or traveling to do outdoorsy things. We love running, road cycling, hiking, mountain biking, paddling – we’ll take it all! I also love to read.
