Professional background:

I have 18 years of experience in the communications and marketing industry, five of those have been with Auburn University. Before higher education, I worked in journalism, from 2005 – 2018 at WSFA 12 News in Montgomery, Alabama. During my career as a producer and executive producer, I won numerous Associated Press and ABBY awards for newscasts, sports programs and breaking news. I have a passion for storytelling and effective communication campaigns. My areas of expertise are strategic communication, crisis communication, critical thinking, balanced decision making and adaptability.

I hold an Advanced Public Information Officer Certification. During the fall and spring semesters, I teach self-defense classes (PHED 2200) to students at Auburn University.

Role within OCM:

I collaborate with departments, colleges, units and programs across campus to identify the audience(s) and best methods for reaching those effectively and creatively while amplifying their stories. I work with our internal partners to create a communications plan for each creative services project which can be digital, print, video or a promotional item. Working with our amazingly talented designers, we produce high-quality content that engages audiences and builds brand recognition.

Proudest professional accomplishment:

While working at Auburn University’s Campus Safety & Security, I helped launch a new app for our campus. This involved more than promotion and marketing the Auburn Safety app but building and designing key features for it. The Auburn Safety app is nearing 20,000 downloads.

During COVID-19, I was tasked with managing Auburn University’s COVID Resource Center hotline and email accounts. Working with our health care professionals, I developed strategic responses and communication plans for answering questions from students, faculty, employees, parents and community members throughout the pandemic. Others and I involved with the COVID-19 vaccination initiative received the 2021 President’s Outstanding Collaborative Unit Award.

Outside interests:

Outside of work, I am busy keeping up with my husband, our three children and all their sports. Most weekends I am at soccer fields, gymnastics meets and ice hockey rinks. On our rare “free” weekends, we enjoy grilling out, playing sports, board games and cards. War Eagle!
