When you see Petey the red-tailed hawk on the cover of this issue of Auburn Research magazine and read about his participation in a study that aims to improve aircraft design, at the same time you can see a metaphor for what’s happening at Auburn every day: something is taking flight.
We like to talk about the hard work that dedicated Auburn researchers do “every day,” and it’s true. If you could visit the sites of every research activity Auburn is engaged in, both on campus and across the state, you would witness a staggering variety of impactful work happening day in and day out, often unseen.
You can see it in these pages. Dr. Wendy Troop-Gordon of the College of Human Sciences conducts research to combat the serious problem of school bullying. Dr. Chin-Yen Lin of the College of Nursing studies ways to improve care for patients suffering from heart failure. Researchers in the College of Veterinary Medicine engage in critically important animal health and agro-/bio-defense work that includes fighting against the spread of avian influenza.
We put a lot into this magazine, and we try with every issue to cover a variety of research and scholarship from across the university. But the truth is, we’ve only scratched the surface when it comes to showing you the groundbreaking work underway at Auburn University.
From labs across campus to field sites across the state and beyond, Auburn researchers are continually undertaking new projects that will improve the health of Alabama citizens, strengthen our communities, provide us with innovative technologies and make the world a safer place.
Thanks to the dedication and ingenuity of so many, Auburn research continues to soar. Follow us to see what will be launched next.
