Tiger Giving Day, Feb. 22, to reflect Auburn University’s land-grant mission

Auburn University’s annual day of giving, Tiger Giving Day, will be held on Feb. 22. The 2023 lineup will showcase more than 55 projects, ranging from an initiative to install historic roadside markers to commemorate the contributions of Black farm communities to expanding and refurbishing the Kreher Preserve Nature playground. 

The fundraising event will unite compelling campus and community needs with the generosity of students, faculty, alumni and community members. For 24 hours, members of the Auburn Family can pick campus-wide projects and see real-time updates of the collective impact of giving. Each project featured on the site needs help reaching its single-day funding goal. Gifts can be made at TigerGiving.org.

Tiger Giving Day provides a platform for grassroots-led projects that that are integral to Auburn University’s land-grant mission. Championed by students, faculty and staff, recurring favorite projects such as Wheelchair Basketball, The Campus Kitchen, Canine Performance Sciences and The Gene Machine have been able to raise transformative funding to help their programs.

Among the new projects to be featured for 2023 is the recently developed Auburn Eating Disorders Clinic, or AEDC.

“We opened the Auburn Eating Disorders Clinic at Auburn University to help provide high-quality, low-cost eating disorder treatment for our community,” said Tiffany Brown, assistant professor and co-director, AEDC. “Given the strong need for these services within the community, we’ve experienced a lot more demand that we can currently treat, and that’s why we are so grateful to be a part of Tiger Giving Day 2023.”

Another new project, Shoe Design Workshop, is focused on bringing unique education opportunities to students in underrepresented high schools in Alabama. With Tiger Giving Day funds, students will be able to walk away with a thoughtfully designed, fully customized pair of sneakers.

“Shoe Design Workshop gives high school students the opportunity to learn about the design process and experience industrial design using a super-accessible project—sneakers,” said Ben Bush, associate professor and co-creator of the workshop. “We have completed this workshop using pen and paper with more than 200 students, but the chance to elevate the workshop by moving to an actual pair of shoes is so exciting. We are honored to be given a chance to expand the workshop through the generosity of Tiger Giving Day donors.”

Since 2015, Tiger Giving Day donors have funded more than 250 projects for the university, changing lives on campus, in communities and across the state. Last year, more than 5,700 members of the Auburn Family supported the projects that meant the most to them. Gifts can be made on Feb. 22 at TigerGiving.org.
