Auburn University invites all high school seniors in Alabama to upcoming prospective student receptions

All high school seniors in the state of Alabama are invited to attend one of Auburn University’s upcoming prospective student receptions—the first of which will occur in Auburn on Aug. 30.

“This is a great opportunity for seniors to learn more about Auburn’s admissions process and scholarships from an admissions advisor, as well as some of the university’s top administrators—to include Auburn President Christopher B. Roberts,” said Joffery Gaymon, Auburn’s vice president for enrollment.

The first such event will take place at 6 p.m. at the Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center in Auburn on Tuesday, Aug. 30. In addition to the president, representatives from all of Auburn’s undergraduate colleges will be on hand to speak with guests.

Beyond Auburn, similar receptions also will be offered in Birmingham, Huntsville and Mobile. The event in Birmingham will occur at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Regions Field, 1401 First Avenue, South. The gathering in Huntsville will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, located at 1 Tranquility Base. And the reception in Mobile will take place at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at The Battle House Hotel and Spa at 26 N. Royal Street.

To register for any of the receptions, go here. The reception events come amid another year of record in-state applicants to Auburn. Among the more than 50,000 applications received for fall 2022, there was a 76% increase in students applying from the state of Alabama.

“It is exciting to see how many students are demonstrating a strong interest in joining the Auburn Family,” Gaymon said. “Auburn remains the most popular college choice for in-state undergraduate students and as a land-grant institution remains committed to investing in Alabama’s students.”

Among some recent admission modifications, any valedictorian or salutatorian from an accredited Alabama school with 50 or more graduates qualifies for admission. Auburn also extended its test-flexible option for first-year students who would start in fall 2022, and applicants with at least a 3.6 GPA and unable to test were reviewed holistically through the test-optional pathway. 

On Aug. 1, Auburn opened its application season for next year’s summer and fall semesters. Applications can be submitted online or through the Common App system—a powerful, online college application platform that serves more than 3 million applicants, teachers, counselors and advisors throughout the nation and world.

First-year students accepted for admission by mid-January receive automatic consideration. A scholarship application is not required.
