Auburn School of Nursing earns top ranking in Alabama

Auburn University has the best nursing program in Alabama, according to a nursing advocacy organization.

On the site, registerednursing.org, Auburn’s School of Nursing is ranked number one in the state, besting 38 other colleges or universities with nursing programs in Alabama.

The organization annually determines the best registered nurse, or RN, programs in each state by analyzing current and historical pass rates of the National Council Licensure Examination, or NCLEX. Nursing students take the NCLEX upon graduation to determine competency and preparedness to enter nursing practice. All state boards of nursing across the United States use the NCLEX as a requirement for licensure.

According to the Alabama Board of Nursing, Auburn has an average NCLEX pass rate of 97.8%.

“Our success in getting students to pass the NCLEX is a testament to the work of our faculty and the commitment of our students,” said Auburn Nursing Dean Gregg Newschwander. “Our ability to sustain a high level of success over time is gratifying.”

Auburn’s School of Nursing, established in 1979, offers an RN-to-BSN program for registered nurses to earn a Bachelor of Science in nursing online in three semesters, a BSN program, Master of Science in nursing program in nurse practitioner and nurse educator tracks, a post-master’s certificate program for registered nurses with a master’s degree in nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice program.
