When Justin Patton's son was born recently, a nurse applied small white plastic bands to mother and child. Enabled by radio frequency identification technology, or RFID, the band enables a hospital to monitor the location and ensure the safety of newborns.

Portions of Samford Park will close this summer as Auburn University begins Phase II of the Samford Park redevelopment project and replaces the Samford Hall roof. Both projects will begin after spring graduation and are scheduled for completion prior to the first home football game this fall.

Arthur "Joe" Jenkins, a senior from Madison, Alabama, with majors in zoology and mechanical engineering, has been awarded a 2015 Morris K. and Stewart L. Udall Scholarship for Excellence in National Environmental Policy – one of 48 Udall Scholarships awarded nationwide and the only recipient from the State of Alabama.

Nobel Peace Prize winner and Auburn University alumnus John Oakberg will receive an honorary doctorate at Auburn's 2015 spring commencement at 10 a.m. May 9. Oakberg, a '69 graduate in mathematics, was part of a team of scientists at the International Atomic Energy Agency, or IAEA, in Vienna to receive the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts to prevent nuclear energy from being used for military purposes and to ensure that nuclear energy for peaceful purposes is used in the safest way possible.
