The Provost’s Office is conducting an internal search for the position of Associate Provost for Academic Affairs. Reporting to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the position is open to tenured faculty who currently hold the rank of professor. At least three years of experience as a department head/chair or associate dean for academic affairs, or other comparable academic administrative experience is a requirement.

The Associate Provost for Academic Affairs leads various academic-related activities by working collaboratively with units inside and outside the Provost’s Office and all the colleges. Significant responsibilities include (but are not limited to) oversight of several central units and teams that support the academic enterprise and the university’s curriculum-related processes, including chairing the Curriculum Committee. The Associate Provost also provides guidance and leadership for the university's general education programs, including the university’s core curriculum process, and chairs the Core Curriculum & General Education Committee. Additional responsibilities include the facilitation of key processes such as administrator reviews, academic policy review, and academic honesty, and representing the Provost and Senior Vice President on university, senate, and statewide committees such as the Enrollment Management Committee, the Retention Committee and the Alabama Articulation and General Studies Committee.

This position is a renewable 30-month appointment with a start date of Jan. 1, 2024. Candidates should electronically submit  a one to two-page statement demonstrating experience and interest in the position and a curriculum vitae by Sept. 25.
