Stewart named director of professional development for the Graduate School

Sheena Stewart has been named director of professional development for the Graduate School, which went into effect May 1. In her new role, Stewart leads the professional development efforts for over 5,000 graduate students across all 12 colleges, provides support and mentorship to the Auburn Postdoctoral Association and leads graduate recruiting efforts.

“Sheena has a genuine enthusiasm for Auburn and our students, and she is passionate about lifelong learning to ensure academic, personal and professional success,” said George Flowers, dean of the Graduate School. “The Graduate School provides many professional development opportunities for our students, and we look forward to continued innovation and excellence under her direction.”

Stewart has been an instructor in the Auburn University College of Education’s Department of Educational Foundations, Leadership and Technology since 2018, and most recently served as director and assistant clinical professor since 2020. She continues to be actively engaged in research, scholarly publications, and professional development and training partnerships that engage and enhance the Auburn community.

Before Auburn, Stewart served as a training and organizational development manager with the City of Auburn as well as a small business owner and entrepreneur. As a three-time Auburn Alumna, Stewart holds a bachelor's degree in psychology, a master's degree in human development and family studies and a doctorate in adult education.
