WEGL 91.1 FM, Eagle Eye TV win ABBY, Intercollegiate Broadcast System Awards

WEGL 91.1 FM and Eagle Eye TV have won ABBY and Intercollegiate Broadcast System Awards.

WEGL won two ABBY Awards. The ABBY Awards are hosted by the Alabama Broadcasters Association. Over 300 radio and television stations compete across the state. WEGL has now won an ABBY 4 consecutive years in a row. Senior WEGL student, Aidan Kowalski,  has won three of the last four years. 

WEGL’s wins were:

  • Abby award for Small Market Radio Station Promotion: “Christmas Block”

  • Award of Merit for Small Market Radio Sportscaster: Aidan Kowalski

In addition to the ABBY Awards, WEGL and Eagle Eye TV were finalists in 14 categories with three first-place wins in the Intercollegiate Broadcast System’s, or IBS, awards. College radio and television stations around the world compete in the IBS Awards.

The first place wins are: 

    • WEGL - Best Station ID: We Don’t Need TV - Logan Hunston

    • WEGL – Best Sports Play-by-Play: Baseball or Softball – Auburn vs. Louisianna Tech – Noah Phillips, Griggs Blankenburg, and Carson Way 

    • EETV – Best Social Media Director – Taylor Brown
