Auburn University College of Liberal Arts alumni Cole Cubelic, Dawn Davenport and Taylor Davis made history on March 5 when they became the first trio from the same university to call the same football game.
The three Tigers made up the on-air ESPN2 broadcast team for the XFL game between San Antonio and Houston, setting a new standard for number of alumni from one school to work the same telecast. In addition, Auburn grad Carlie Kaufusi also worked the game in the production truck, according to AL.com’s Mark Heim.
Cubelic played center and was a football team captain who graduated in 2001 with a degree in communications and media studies and has been with ESPN since 2011. Davenport played volleyball at Auburn and is a 2002 honors graduate who holds a degree in mass communications/radio, television and film. Davis earned her broadcast journalism degree in 2014.
