Office of Information Technology hosting phishing education campaign

Phishing is when scammers attempt to trick people into giving up sensitive information or access to important services. This attempt can be made via phone calls, emails or text messages. The Information Security Office will be building on previous security awareness campaigns and the simulated phishing test by providing phishing education (including multiple simulated phishing messages) in a year-long campaign for Auburn employees and students.

IT staff are constantly monitoring for phishing attempts and blocking them once identified. However, scammers are constantly changing their techniques to get around our security measures. The good news is that while people are at risk, they can also be the strongest security measure.

You can help OIT by doing three simple things:

1) Learn what phishing looks like.

2) Apply that knowledge to recognize a phishing attempt.

3) Report the phishing attempt.
