French professor nominated for 2023 Louisiana Poet Laureate position

Evelyne M. Bornier from Auburn University's Department of World Languages, Literatures & Cultures, has been nominated for the 2023 Louisiana Poet Laureate position.

As Louisiana’s literary ambassador for two years, the Poet Laureate travels the state encouraging fellow Louisianans to explore and engage with poetry. The Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities oversees the Louisiana Poet Laureate nomination process in partnership with the Governor of Louisiana and supports Poet Laureate public programming in libraries, museums, schools, community centers and other nonprofit cultural institutions throughout the state.

Bornier is the Endowed Alumni Professor of French, has been published extensively in academic journals and researches everything from 19th-21st Century French & Francophone literature and civilization to 19th Century British and American poetry and prose. She earned a Diplome d'Etudes Approfondies from Universite de Franche-Comte in Besancon, France, and a doctorate from Louisiana State University.
