Auburn’s museum to host conversation with Kevin Brisco about debut solo exhibition for BSU: Unity Week 2023
Article body
The Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art will host a conversation with visual artist Kevin Brisco from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16.
Part of the museum’s academic mission is for cultural exchange with contemporary artists as a means of teaching and learning through art. “Radical Naturalism—Kevin Brisco: Migratory Roots” is the Memphis-born artist’s first solo museum exhibition.
The show, which opened at the end of January, uses homophones routes and roots to consider the questions of home and what it means to belong, specifically for African Americans. Brisco will explore these and other ideas in conversation with Aaron Levi Garvey, the Janet L. Nolan Director of Curatorial Affairs, during this free engagement.
Seats are limited, so please register on the museum’s website. Additional promotional support is being provided by the JULE Student Advisory Board, in conjunction with the Black Student Union’s BSU: Unity Week 2023.
