Spring New Faculty Orientation

Friday, Jan. 6t from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the Academic Classroom and Laboratory Complex, or ACLC.

The Biggio Center will host the Spring Teaching Orientation. All new faculty hired within the last year and graduate students are welcome to attend. We also welcome returning faculty and graduate students who feel like this event would be beneficial to their teaching or professional goals.

For more information and to register for the event, visit the Biggio Center website.

EASL Academy Workshops

The Biggio Center is offering two sessions of EASL Academy ahead of the start of the fall semester. These half-day, interactive workshops will prepare faculty to teach in an EASL classroom by introducing best practices for maximizing learning using the unique technology, furniture and pedagogies of active learning classrooms. In addition to test-driving the instructional technology and experiencing collaborative learning from a student’s perspective, participants will engage with a range of learning activities supported by the EASL rooms. These workshops will prepare and qualify you to teach in the Mell Classroom building and the new ACLC, but the activities and goals are designed to support and enhance your ability to teach in any instructional space.

Two sessions of EASL Academy will be held during the Spring 2023 semester. Both will be held at the ACLC in room 259A and breakfast will be served.

Monday, Jan 9 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. https://biggio.auburn.edu/events/easl1

Friday, March 17 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. https://biggio.auburn.edu/events/easl2

Getting Started with Digital Design in Courses: Adobe Creative Cloud Express

Monday, Jan. 9 from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. at the ACLC.

Presented by Dr. Chelsy Hooper, AU Libraries and Innovation & Research Commons, faculty and instructors are invited to learn to leverage Adobe Creative Cloud in your courses for increased student engagement. All students have free access to an Auburn Adobe ID to help them learn digital creativity skills.

Explore Adobe Creative Cloud Express, an app that allows everyone to create beautiful graphics, web stories, slideshows and videos, Adobe Stock used for high-resolution images for use in projects and Adobe Premiere Rush, a user-friendly video editing app. Access Adobe’s free resources that will empower you to use more powerful apps such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Premiere Pro. Bring a laptop to join in.

Consult with instructional technology specialists on integrating Adobe Creative Cloud applications into your courses to promote students’ digital literacy, applicable in any area of study. Come away from this session with an assignment incorporating multimodal learning ready to implement in your course, increasing student engagement and digital creation skills.
