Emily McCoy named Interim Assistant Dean of HCOP Mobile Campus

Dr. Emily McCoy, an associate clinical professor in the Harrison College of Pharmacy's Department of Pharmacy Practice, has been named interim assistant dean of the Mobile Campus. She assumed her new role Nov. 1.

“I am honored to be selected as the interim assistant dean for HCOP Mobile,” said McCoy. “HCOP is committed to excellence and innovation in pharmacy education and improving the health and wellness of others, and I am extremely proud of the positive impact our students, faculty and staff have made in our Mobile community. I am excited to provide HCOP Mobile with the guidance and support needed to continue to deliver outstanding patient care and advance the pharmacy profession.”

McCoy is a 2008 Pharm.D. graduate of the University of Tennessee. She completed a residency with the University of Tennessee/St. Francis Family Medicine before joining the HCOP faculty in 2009. In that time she has taken progressively more responsibility on the campus, including working with a variety of student organizations and assuming the role of assistant director of student affairs.

“Dr. McCoy is a nationally-recognized leader in the pharmacy profession and an excellent teacher,” said Dr. Karen Marlowe, associate dean for academic programs. “The Harrison College of Pharmacy is very fortunate to be able to have her leadership and experience with student success and I look forward to working with her as we continue strengthen relationships between our two campuses and build an innovative student success program for our students.”

The interim assistant dean for Mobile serves as the operations administrator to coordinate all aspects of HCOP’s operations in Mobile with HCOP’s operations in Auburn. The position serves on HCOP’s Executive Committee and is also charged with helping implement the vision of HCOP’s Division of Academic Programs.

Established in 2007, the The Harrison College of Pharmacy - Mobile Campus is located on the campus of the University of South Alabama. The Mobile Campus is just minutes from downtown Mobile and is located on a health science campus with access to multiple professions, including nursing, physicians, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistant and many other allied health trainees.
