For the first time, the Dauphin Island Sea Lab offers undergraduate students the chance to earn credit hours during the spring semester. The newly developed 2023 spring semester will follow the same format as the current summer DISL semesters with students living on the Dauphin Island Sea Lab campus, attending classes, and participating in field labs.

The courses are open to any in-state or out-of-state students. Students attending a Marine Environmental Sciences Consortium school or MESC, which includes 22 universities and colleges in the state of Alabama, will register through their home campus. Students who do not attend a MESC school will need to coordinate their interests with DISL's University Programs registrar through this email.

Courses slated for the spring semester include Marine Ecology, Marine Geology, Marine Technical Methods, and Marine Operations and Research. Students can earn up to 15 credits. Courses will begin on Jan. 9, 2023. The priority deadline to register for these courses is Dec. 1, 2022. For more information on the courses offered in the 2023 spring semester, click here.
