Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, or OLLI, at Auburn University hosts a public presentation of “Taiwan: A Pleasant Island Waiting for you to Explore” with Dr. Jason Chang from 11:30AM to 1:00PM on Wednesday, September 21 at the Boykin Community Center, 400 Boykin St. in Auburn. This lecture will also be broadcast on Facebook. No registration is necessary.
OLLI and Jason Chang invite the Auburn Family to join them for a snapshot of Taiwanese culture. Chang will introduce participants to day-to-day living experiences, including information about housing, shopping, transportation and food.
Chang was born and raised in Taiwan. After getting his pharmacist license, he went to The Ohio State University where he earned a doctorate in pharmacology. He worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Washington University and then joined the Department of Neurobiology and Developmental Sciences at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, serving on the faculty for 28 years. Chang retired in 2020 and moved to Auburn, where he enjoys gardening and backyard birdwatching. He often plays pickleball in the morning, and occasionally plays traditional Taiwanese music at night with an old harmonica.
OLLI at Auburn is a program of the Office of the Vice President for University Outreach. Its mission is to enrich the lives of senior adults by providing opportunities to engage with ideas, one another, and our community. OLLI administrative offices and select classes are located at the historic Sunny Slope property, 1031 South College Street, Auburn, Alabama.
