Chris, Alegría García to perform 'Rhythm and Songs of Mesoamerica' Sept. 20-21

The Los Angeles-based father-daughter duo Chris and Alegría García will perform “Rhythm and Songs of Mesoamerica” using traditional percussion instruments of the Aztecs and Mayans in two public concerts at Auburn University on Sept. 20 at 12:30 p.m. in the ground floor auditorium of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library and on Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. at the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities at Pebble Hill. Both concerts are free and open to the public.

Chris García has more than 32 years of experience as a professional percussionist and educates audiences on the music and history of Mesoamerica throughout the world. Alegría Garcia is accomplished vocalist who performs in Spanish and Indigenous languages, and she and her father have performed at colleges and universities throughout the United States.
