A semester-long writing group can help you maintain a healthy writing routine and progress on your current writing projects, such as your dissertation, thesis, ePortfolio, or piece for publication. Participants will check-in with their group members at the beginning of each week to share their weekly writing goals and will update and encourage their group members as they make progress throughout the week.

Participants should plan to devote about 30 minutes of their time each week to asynchronous check-ins—although groups are free to determine their own time commitments and modes of interaction beyond asynchronous check-ins.

The deadline to register for the fall semester is Sept. 8. When you register, you can specify whether you have already formed a writing group that you’d like to continue with the support of University Writing, or whether you would like to be matched with other writers across the university.

On Friday, Dec. 8, at 1 p.m., all writing group participants will be invited to a celebratory event to share our progress and milestones in writing and research. Additional information will be shared during the fall semester.
