Beginning Monday, Aug. 8, the Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning will host several events for new faculty members and graduate teaching assistants: EASL Academy, New Faculty Orientation, GTA Orientation and two Biggio Tech workshops focused on Canvas. Reach out to biggio1@auburn.edu with any questions.

EASL Academy Workshops

The Biggio Center is offering two sessions of EASL Academy ahead of the start of the fall semester. These half-day long, interactive workshops will prepare faculty to teach in an EASL classroom by introducing best practices for maximizing learning using the unique technology, furniture and pedagogies of active learning classrooms. In addition to test-driving the instructional technology in the room and experiencing collaborative learning from a student’s perspective, participants will engage with a range of learning activities supported by the EASL rooms. These workshops will prepare and qualify you to teach in the Mell Classroom building and the new Academic Classroom and Laboratory Complex, or ACLC, but the activities and goals are designed to support and enhance your ability to teach in any instructional space.

Two sessions of EASL Academy will be held prior to the start of the fall 2022 semester:

Aug. 8, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Mell Building Room 3550 (Breakfast served)

Aug. 8, 1 p.m.-5 p.m. at the Academic Classroom and Laboratory Complex (ACLC) Room 259A (Lunch Served)

New Faculty Orientation

The Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning and the Office of the Provost invite new faculty to an academic orientation. This event consists of an online course that will give you a self-paced introduction to important policies and resources related to teaching, research, service, outreach and other topics of relevance to new Auburn faculty, as well as a face-to-face event. Lunch, coffee and pastries will be provided through the day.

Thursday, Aug. 11, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

GTA Orientation

The GTA orientation provides the opportunity for New GTAs or any graduate student who will be teaching in the classroom or lab to have their questions answered in an engaging introduction to teaching well at Auburn. Due to the need for greater flexibility for our attendees, this year’s new GTA Orientation will once again be held via Zoom. We look forward to welcoming you to your new role here at Auburn.

Friday, Aug. 12, 1 p.m.-3 p.m. via Zoom.
