Montgomery Public Schools students participate in the GEAR UP program hosted by the Office of Special Projects and Initiatives

The Auburn University Office of Special Projects and Initiatives hosted 28 students completing sixth and seventh grades from Montgomery Public Schools for a one-week residential GEAR UP, or Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs, Program on campus from July 18-23.

Students participated in mathematics, science and English courses taught by Auburn graduate students, as well as enrichment activities hosted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Students also visited the Auburn University Regional Airport and the Ralph B. Draughon Library.

More than 60 parents and family members attended a program luncheon and graduation ceremony held at the Hotel at Auburn University & Dixon Conference Center on Saturday, July 23. Students will continue their involvement with Auburn by returning to the GEAR UP Program each summer for the next five to six years.
