Portion of Samford, Gay intersection closed through July 22

Crews are finishing work to install storm pipe on Samford Avenue between College and Gay streets. Once this section is finished, the contractor will begin storm pipe installation at the northeast corner of the intersection of Samford Avenue and Gay Street. The following traffic impacts are expected during this work:

Northbound traffic on Gay Street will be detoured at Samford Avenue either west to College Street then to Miller Avenue or east to Armstrong Street then to Casey Avenue.

Westbound traffic on Samford Avenue will be detoured at Wrights Mill Road to Reese Avenue then to Gay Street.

Southbound traffic on Gay Street turning left onto Samford Avenue will be detoured at Reese Avenue to Wrights Mill Road then to Samford Avenue.
Local traffic will be permitted in the area. Work is expected to last through July 22. Motorists are advised to use caution in the area and to seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
