Recent graduates of the Master of Landscape Architecture, or MLA, program collaborated with Conquer The Soil, an organization focused on Black garden history, to create an exhibit at the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show—one of the nation’s longest-running horticulture events. For five months, the MLA team designed and constructed the exhibit in memory of Effie Lee Newsome, a Black Harlem Renaissance poet who had ties to Birmingham and Philadelphia.
