Student Involvement's student photographer Elaina Eichorn was one of 12 student photographers selected out of 250 applicants to attend the 2022 Men's Final Four Sports Photography Workshop hosted by NCAA Photos and Canon.

Eichorn attended workshops March 30 through April 1 to learn from photographers of NCAA Photos and other professionals on topics such as how the Men's and Women's Final Fours are covered, how to start a career in sports photography and portfolio critiques. In addition, Eichorn had the opportunity to experience Canon gear and to photograph the Final Four practices and media interviews.

On the final day of the workshop, Eichorn was approached by the NCAA director of photography and was asked to stay an extra day to photograph the Final Four games. Eichorn was the only student from the workshop selected for this opportunity.

According to Eichorn, the experience taught her different technical aspects of sports photography, studio lighting and camera network connections, but most importantly it showed her that a profession in sports photography is within her reach.
