Summerfield named editor-in-chief of 'Italica'

Giovanna Summerfield has been named the editor-in-chief of the journal "Italica." She is only the second woman editor in the journal's 95-year history.

Summerfield is a professor of Italian Studies and French in the Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Auburn University. She is a distinguished scholar, with a particular focus on Sicilian writers and culture. Her editorial experience includes serving on the editorial and review boards for a number of academic journals, book review coordinator for Modern Italy, Cambridge UP and editor or co-editor of numerous scholarly volumes. In addition to her impressive scholarly and teaching record, she has also distinguished herself as a highly accomplished administrator in a variety of administrative positions at Auburn University.
