Each year, academic programs across campus submit an annual assessment report that is peer-reviewed in a Meta-Assessment Institute. All assessment reports are scored using a Quality of Assessment rubric, which rates elements of program assessment on a scale from Beginning to Exemplary. Programs who receive an overall Exemplary score on their report are eligible for the Provost’s Excellence in Assessment Award. This award is voted on and decided by the University Assessment Council, or UAC, which is an advisory committee that regularly meets to discuss program assessment efforts at Auburn.

This year, 56 programs were eligible to receive the award. The UAC has selected the graduate programs in Biological Sciences as this year’s winner of the Provost’s Excellence in Assessment Award. Congratulations to the faculty, staff and students of that department, and to Paul Cobine, assessment coordinator for Biological Sciences.

Interim Provost Vini Nathan and the Office of Academic Insight will host a luncheon to celebrate the accomplishments of the department.
