Department of Art and Art History presenting animation lecture with 'Star Wars' concept artist Iain McCaig March 16

The animation program within the Department of Art & Art History at Auburn University will present a lecture series featuring animation industry luminaries in March. The first event will feature Iain McCaig, acclaimed concept artist who worked on “Star Wars” and “The Avengers.”

On March 16, from 7-8 p.m. CST, McCaig will join animation instructor and Ignite Animation Studios founder Jamy Wheless for a virtual lecture and Q&A. McCaig will share his professional journey and explain the importance of character design in storytelling.

McCaig is a writer, director and concept artist acclaimed for his command of storytelling through character design in motion pictures. His conceptual art credits include several “Star Wars” films, the “Avengers” franchise, “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Outlander,” “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” and many more.
