The Black Graduate and Professional Student Association and the Graduate Student Council hosted the annual Unsung Hero Awards Gala on Feb. 26. Trustee Timothy Vines was the guest speaker. The Gala is held annually in February for Black History Month. The Gala recognizes members of the Auburn Family for their contributions to diversity and inclusion.

This year Chloe Jones won the Student Award, Kimberly Mulligan-Guy won the Staff Award, Leonard Taylor won the Faculty Award, Marion Sankey won the Community Award and Tamarcus Milner won the Humanitarian Award. This year Elizabeth Devore won the Unsung Impact Award. In honor of Dean George Flowers for his extraordinary work with graduate students, “The George Flowers Distinguished Administrator Award.” Deja Trammell received the BGPSA and Kimrose Scholarship, and Olamide Durodola received the “Be the Change” scholarship created by Alabama State Representative Jeremy Gray.
