College of Nursing student, faculty member receive scholarships

Graduate student Christien Skinner and Assistant Clinical Professor Chris Martin were recipients of the J.W. Darden Foundation scholarships.

The J.W. Darden Foundation Inc., started in 2001, was set up to honor the legacy of John Wesley Darden, the first black physician to serve Opelika, Alabama. The Foundation recently held its annual Legacy Gala at the Auburn-Opelika Marriott at Grand National. The Darden Foundation perpetuates his mission through operating a wellness center in Opelika and offers scholarship to deserving advance health and medical degree students.
