Student Involvement is excited to welcome Yusef Salaam, member of the Exonerated Five, as their Black History Month keynote speaker on Thursday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m. This event is hosted by Black Student Union, Emerge at Auburn and University Program Council. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.The keynote, moderated Q&A will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a 30-minute meet-and-greet session at 6:45 p.m. This event is free and open to all Auburn University students, staff and faculty. 

Salaam is a member of the Exonerated Five, a family man, father, poet, activist and inspirational speaker. Over the past two decades, he has utilized his platform to share his story with others, educate about the impact of mass incarceration and help others break through boundaries to find their worth when it seems like everyone and everything is against them.

His story has been shared through award-winning documentaries and Netflix limited series. Salaam is the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from President Barack Obama in 2016 and has recently shared his story on CNN, MSNBC, NPR Atlanta and more.
