Ewers and Scarpa receive NASPA-AL awards

Savanna Ewers and Emily Scarpa of Student Affairs were recognized Friday, Jan. 21, at the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, or NASPA, Alabama Drive-In Conference held at the University of Alabama. The conference brought together Student Affairs professionals from Alabama and nearby states.

Ewers was awarded the Future Leader Award and Scarpa was awarded the Rising Star Award.

According to the NASPA website, the Future Leader Award recognizes outstanding contributions by a graduate student that have made a significant contribution to their campus, demonstrated academic achievement, exceeded the expectations of their respective leadership positions, assumed a leadership role at their institution and demonstrated potential for substantial contributions to the student affairs profession.

Ewers was recently hired as a coordinator for Greek Life.

According to the NASPA website, the Rising Star Award recognizes outstanding contributions by a new professional in student affairs who demonstrate initiative, contribute to programs that address the needs of students and the institution, and create campus environments that promote student learning and personal development.

Scarpa is coordinator for Student Conduct.
