The Master of Community Planning, or MCP, program at Auburn University welcomes applications from all undergraduates of all backgrounds. It is a professionally-oriented master's degree program that focuses on the skills that professional planners need for practice in an interactive and interdisciplinary environment.Auburn’s MCP program is accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board for a seven-year term through December 2027. Ranked sixth among programs with the "Largest Percentage of Minority Representation" and ranked 10th among the "Top Small City Programs," Planetizen has recognized Auburn's MCP program as a national leader.

The centerpiece of Auburn's MCP program is the Alabama City Year Program, which provides opportunities for students and faculty to engage with underserved communities throughout Alabama and the Southeast through outreach, teaching, and engaged research.

MCP graduates boast up to a 90% employment rate in a planning field within a few months of graduation! As per an American Planning Association survey, the median income of planners was about $80,000 in 2018, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a job growth of 11% for planners, which is three times the projected U.S. job growth.
