12 months until SACSCOC visits campus: what you should know

Article body

The Office of the Provost has been steadily preparing for the university’s on-site visit from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges, or SACSCOC, that is only 12 months away. SACSCOC requires compliance with nearly 80 standards in order for Auburn to maintain its status as an accredited university and its eligibility for a wide variety of federal resources. Our reaffirmation with SACSCOC is an opportunity to reflect on ways to improve and be more effective as an institution.

As we count down the next year until our on-site review—Feb. 27-March 2, 2023—our office will be doing a monthly countdown with behind-the-scenes information about the reaffirmation process—from the most challenging standards to write about to our plans to bring SACSCOC representatives to some of our award-winning off-campus sites. We hope that this will shed some light on what it takes for Auburn to reaffirm its accreditation and how the process relies on and impacts everyone on campus.

Our team has been working diligently with campus partners and university stakeholders to increase awareness and understanding of accrediting policies and procedures. We thank those who have been of assistance thus far in the collection of evidence for our “snapshot year” and look forward to sharing our progress through the next 12 months.
