Black History Speaker Series presenting Holly Pinheiro

The Department of History Black History Speaker Series will feature Holly Pinheiro on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m. on Zoom. Pinheiro will discuss, "The Families' Civil War." Click here to register and receive a Zoom link.

Pinheiro received his doctoral degree from the University of Iowa. He is an assistant professor of African American History at Furman University. His research focuses on the intersectionality of race, gender and class in the military from 1850 through the 1930s. He is the author of, “The Families’ Civil War: Northern African American Soldiers and The Fight for Racial Justice,” forthcoming from the University of Georgia Press.
