Article body
Stefan Kuks, visiting international scholar in the Department of Political Science and one of Europe’s leading experts on governmental response to climate change, will give a lecture “Built on Water–The Delta Program of the Netherlands” which will examine how Holland–where half of the country’s population lives below the sea level–is dealing with climate change. The talk will discuss efforts taken by the Dutch that mitigate the adverse impacts of rising sea levels and will compare the country’s effort with efforts undertaken in southern Florida.
Kuks is professor of public policy and public administration at the University of Twente in the Netherlands and serves as Chair of the National Steering Committee for the Delta Program on Spatial Adaptation in the Netherlands.
The talk will be held on Monday, Jan. 24, from 4-5 p.m. in Mell Classroom Building 2550 and is open to all students, faculty and staff, as well as the public.
