After a nationwide search, Nyerere Tryman has been selected as the new executive director of University Housing at Auburn University. He will begin the role on Feb. 1.

“I am elated to be joining the team at Auburn University,” Tryman said. “I am grateful to Dr. Woodard and Dr. Rush for the opportunity, and I look forward to working with and serving the people of the Auburn community.”

Tryman comes to Auburn from the University of Alabama, where he previously served as director of housing operations. At Alabama, Tryman was responsible for maintenance and operations of more than 3.8 million square feet of student living spaces and oversaw the completion of more than $4 million in housing renovation and construction projects annually.

Throughout his career, he has fostered collaborative relationships with students, faculty and staff by developing and implementing services and programming to enhance the student experience at each institution he has served, beginning with the University of Georgia in 2005.

“We are thrilled to add Nyerere to our team in Student Affairs,” said Bryan Rush, Ph.D., associate vice president for student affairs. “Nyerere’s skillset and vision are aligned with our division goals, and he will be a tremendous asset to the university and our students.”

University Housing fosters a welcoming, supportive and inclusive environment that promotes a connection to campus life. More than 4,000 Auburn students live in the university’s on-campus residence halls and leased off-campus apartment complexes.
