University faculty and staff receiving or processing mail upon the reopening of campus offices on Jan. 3 may find financial or stock donations for which a donor is expecting a 2021 charitable deduction. The Auburn University Foundation can provide 2021 charitable tax documentation only for gifts that are postmarked on or before Dec. 31, 2021. Without a 2021 postmark, the foundation must date these contributions based on the dates on which they are processed in 2022.

Therefore, it is critical that employees receiving such donations save the postmarked envelopes and all other documents or correspondence included with each donation. So the foundation can process these gifts as quickly as possible, forward all such materials to Auburn Advancement, Attn: Gifts and Records, 317 S. College St., no later than Jan. 7. To expedite gift processing, advise donors expressing an interest in making a year-end contribution to mail donations to this address or to make their gift online at auburngiving.org.

For questions, contact Gifts and Records at 334-844-1127.
