In 2018, Auburn University joined 11 other institutions across the United States in the 16th cohort of the American Council on Education’s Internationalization Laboratory. For more than two years, Auburn’s Committee for Strategic Internationalization led a comprehensive, campus-wide effort to develop strategies and goals for Auburn’s internationalization efforts. The findings of the review are outlined in the Internationalization Report, available in full here.

Auburn committed to a bold vision in the 2019-2024 University Strategic Plan: to lead and shape the future of higher education. As a university simultaneously steeped in rich tradition and dedicated to innovation for the state, nation and world, Auburn recognizes the future it seeks to create is global and connected. The Internationalization Report makes several recommendations to assist Auburn in achieving the goals of the University Strategic Plan through comprehensive internationalization. These include: an elevated Auburn experience; transformative research; strategic enrollment; and operational excellence.

“The Office of International Programs and the Committee for Strategic Internationalization are pleased to finally share the results of our internationalization review,” said Andrew Gillespie, assistant provost for International Programs. “The goals and strategies detailed in the report offer an outline for strategic internationalization across campus, which will assist Auburn in molding students, faculty and staff into global citizens.”

In addition to the full report and details on the Committee for Strategic Internationalization, the website also links to internationalizing teaching and the curriculum resources. The resources include faculty testimonials for internationalization as it relates to the traditional classroom, high impact practices, internationalization at home and the augmented student experience.

Thank you to the Committee for Strategic Internationalization and participating Auburn faculty and staff for your continuous contributions to the enrichment and reach of Auburn’s global footprint.
