Do you plan to travel abroad in spring or summer 2022? If so, the Office of International Programs encourages you to renew/apply for your passport now. According to the U.S. Department of State, routine passport processing is taking up to 11 weeks. Auburn University faculty, staff and students should prepare in advance.

Due to the delayed processing times, travelers should plan to apply at least 4-6 months before departure. To review passport services in detail and to obtain a passport today, visit the U.S. Department of State website.

To assist Auburn students traveling internationally for a study abroad program, OIP is offering financial support to cover the cost of the passport fee (currently, $110). This does not cover the cost of passport photos, expedited processing costs, mail or travel costs.

To apply for passport financial support, students must meet the following requirements:• Currently attending Auburn University.• Undergraduate student.• In good academic standing.• Have at least selected a study abroad program for which they intend to apply.• Have applied for a passport between Nov. 1, 2021, and Dec. 31, 2022.• Provide a receipt and/or a scanned copy of the passport when obtained.

The applications will be reviewed weekly and students will be notified within two weeks of submission if they received support. If selected, students will receive support via eBill.
