Auburn will offer a live broadcast of a Nov. 12 groundbreaking ceremony for a new National Pan-Hellenic Council Legacy Plaza in honor of the council’s member organizations and in celebration of African American culture at Auburn. When erected in front of the new Academic Classroom and Laboratory Complex, it will be the first physical landmark for any Black student organization on Auburn’s campus.

The Auburn Family is asked to join the groundbreaking ceremony virtually at aub.ie/NPHCceremony as the ceremony begins at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12. The ceremony will include remarks from key university officials and others involved with the project. The plaza, spearheaded by Auburn’s Student Government Association with the support of the Auburn University Board of Trustees, will include one marker for each of the nine African American Greek organizations that make up the National Pan-Hellenic Council and one central commemorative marker explaining the plaza’s representation and recognizing the project’s donors. Construction of the plaza is expected to begin in 2022.
