Registration is now open for the next installment of EagleCast, the monthly webinar series hosted by the Office of Professional and Continuing Education. James Barth, Lowder Eminent Scholar of Finance in the Harbert School of Business, will provide an overview of digital currencies as they compare to traditional currencies and discusses the number and types of cryptocurrencies and whether they are money; how Bitcoin works, its fluctuating price and its legal status in countries; and the insurance of digital currencies by central banks that serve as legal tenders.. His presentation, The New World of Digital Currencies, takes place Tuesday, August 24, through Zoom and is followed by a question and answer session.
