Auburn University Facilities Management recently published its 2021 summer project map. The map highlights 114 projects that will be under construction, with 74 of those completing during the summer semester.

The projects include everything from pavement rehabilitation and elevator repairs to carpet replacements and lighting upgrades.

“The project map allows our campus and community to see the magnitude of this summer’s construction workload,” said Wendy Peacock, director of Construction Management. “That includes providing information about what areas are being impacted as well as supporting enhanced coordination between ongoing projects and events.”

Many of the projects take advantage of the low number of students on campus to avoid issues that would occur with a full campus population, like coming renovations to Goodwin Hall’s recording studio and restroom upgrades at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Several roadwork enhancements will also take advantage of the summer semester, including ongoing intersection improvements at Biggio Drive and West Samford Avenue and the repaving of Lem Morrison Drive.

Also included in this summer’s construction are continued build outs for the Academic Classroom and Laboratory Complex, Central Dining Hall, Football Performance Center, Chilled Water System Expansion and the Rane Culinary Science Center.

“Our goal is to meet our client’s construction, renovation and repair needs while minimizing the impact on Auburn University students, faculty and staff,” said Dan King, associate vice president of Facilities.
