Auburn Libraries is hosting Alberto Cairo, knight chair in visual journalism (School of Communication, University of Miami) and author of How Charts Lie: Getting Smarter About Visual Information, for the lecture, “How to Make Good Decisions in Visualization.” This lecture will take place at 12:15 p.m. on May 22 via Zoom. There will be an opportunity for a Q&A following the lecture.

In the past couple of decades, data visualization has become part of the public imagination. Graphs and maps of data are everywhere: in the news, in social media, science and many other realms. Do the readers of these visualizations understand what they are looking at? More importantly, do visualization designers know what they are doing? Cairo’s talk will offer some suggestions to overcome these challenges.
