Gordon Ambrosino from Auburn University’s Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work in the College of Liberal Arts has enjoyed his time thus far on the Plains since his arrival in October.

Ambrosino—a landscape archaeologist and art historian—serves as the department’s coordinator for the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, or NAGPRA. In that role, he is responsible for facilitating consultations with Native representatives regarding the university’s collections and for coordinating the repatriation of ancestral remains to descendant communities.

Ambrosino describes his role, as well as his initial thoughts about living in Auburn, in this Q&A.
