Article body

Created in 2014, the Global Teaching Academy recognizes and celebrates exceptional teaching in an international context. Since inception, the Academy has welcomed some two dozen colleagues and recognized their efforts in internationalizing our curricula and our students. The Office of International Programs invites nominations for this year’s new class of Academy members.

Tenure-track faculty on Auburn’s main campus may nominate themselves or may be nominated by a colleague. Please provide either a personal statement or letter of nomination highlighting international teaching activities and experience, either on campus or abroad, as well as a short CV. Nominations may be sent to Jenn Mason, director of international initiatives. The deadline for nominations is May 10.

The goals of the Academy are to:

• Recognize peers for their interest and efforts in globalizing Auburn's curriculum

• Facilitate international course offerings on campus to complement the recent growth of study abroad courses and exchange programs offered overseas

• Create a supportive, interdisciplinary environment for students to internationalize their academic programs

• Create an academic international certificate

• Induct recognized academy members into Phi Beta Delta, the honor society for international scholars

Each year the Academy adds five to six faculty, recognized for their international teaching. These faculty help lead Auburn's efforts in internationalization of the curriculum. Members also play an essential role in Auburn’s biannual International Perspectives on University Teaching and Learning Symposium.
